Portrait of Wacław Wantuch, artist specializing in historical painting techniques.

Wacław Wantuch

I have always worked with the female body—first through photography, now mainly through painting and drawing.

It is always a matter of form, light, and shadow.

It’s not just about technique but about how light and form find their place on a flat surface.

Paints, pigments, and working methods are just tools. They must be durable and reliable, but their only purpose is to serve the painting.

That’s why I often prepare them myself, using old methods and recipes.

Durability gives my work meaning.
